WHO IS THE COURSE RETURNED?
Once the pilot certificate (PPL) has been obtained, the adventure has just begun. The instrumental course (IR) is designed for pilots wishing to fly by using airplane instrumentation in all weather conditions (eg fly through the clouds).
Eligibility Requirements FAA IR
Be in possession of a valid FAA PPL
Have a FAA class III medical certificate valid
Pass a written exam with a score of 70% or higher
Pass an oral and a flight test on the procedures and maneuvers selected by an FAA Examiner
Overview of the course
35 hours dual-instrument flight
Ground instruction covering pre and post flight briefing
Take a cross country flight of at least 250nm with 3 different instrumental approaches
Note: Compared to the Part 61 course, you do not need to have flown the required 50 hour back time
Duration of the course
Based on a full-time course, a novice will spend 6-7 weeks depending on individual experience and preparation in English.
